Charlie Hancock

With 25 years’ experience in the fresh produce industry managing farmland, vegetable packing plants and supply chain, Charlie has operated at every level of agri business. Delivering improved business performance scaling up high value crops into food service, wholesale and major supermarkets in the UK and EU. An experienced whole farm business manager, Charlie has led evaluation, land acquisition and business restructures driving efficiencies through centralisation and the integration of up to date technologies. Qualified in Agriculture and Farm Management from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Charlie is a lively communicator with a passion for investment. Stakeholder alignment, facilitation and turning around distressed projects he operates with ease at high and ground level. With experience in China, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Nigeria and Bangladesh his focus is Sri Lanka and SE Asia and spends 3 months a year in the region.
Charlie, once a jump jockey is an avid sports enthusiast and lives with his partner near Ely in Cambridgeshire.

Chris Horne

Chris is an entrepreneurial agribusiness operator with significant international experience. He spent 22 years in a range of marketing and product development roles within major agribusiness corporations which spanned the UK, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Chris has advised the UK Department for International Trade as an industry specialist, providing guidance for attracting overseas investors and supporting UK agritech companies to develop export links.
In addition, Chris is an advisor to a number of innovative companies operating in the vertical farming and crop nutrition/protection sectors and is a shareholder and director in an agribusiness market research firm. Chris also provides mentorship to companies in GROW – the agri-food tech
accelerator based in Singapore, and Farm491 the UK agritech incubator.
Chris is excited by the unfolding high-tech revolution and what it can bring to this industry in performance, efficiency and sustainability.

Tim Byrne

Tim has over 15 years of experience as an applied scientist. His work mantra is simple: good scientists need to deliver impact, not just solutions. A broad thinker and an in-depth leader, Tim can help identify investment and technology opportunities and successfully integrate them into businesses to thrive.
Tim is the managing director of AbacusBio International, based in Edinburgh. AbacusBio are shareholders and science partners with Capital Agri. Tim works on developing, delivering, and reviewing international agri-technology programs. His strength lies in the economic evaluation of technologies in the red meat and dairy supply chains, especially in data/information programs and genetic improvement technologies in farmed livestock.
Tim lives in Edinburgh with his wife and family.
